Creating apps benefit both youth and its institution

Last summer, NYSCI participated in a modified version of Iridescent’s Technovation Challenge. It was an opportunity for our Explainers to learn how to create apps while gaining an understanding of what it takes to pitch their ideas to potential investors. It was a great opportunity for both our youth and museum. The Explainers learned about app development and numerous aspects of business and presentation, while the museum will now have apps to go along with different exhibit areas. Staff also began to see how well our youth understand the museum through their thoughtful presentations. Project Brief

21-Tech partners study and share the effective use of Personal Mobile Technologies (PMTs) by gallery facilitators in their work with visitors. The initial three years (2011-2013) of 21-Tech are funded in large part by a 21st Century Museum Professionals award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
