Sometimes it is difficult to explain in words how a component works or what are the proper ways to use a component. We do not want to write paragraphs to explain, which may result in the visitor getting discouraged from reading a post. It also becomes very difficult to read long posts when the visitors are attending to their kids. For the reasons above, we began to encourage the educators to post video clips that are 10-15 seconds long and instructs the visitors on how to operate different aspects of a component. These video clips are also silent since it will be hard to hear with the noise in the museum. You will find examples of these under What do I do? category of Amazing Airways and Wind Towers components. Other type of digital media included infographics. You can find an example of this under Big Question category of Kid Lift component.

Project Brief

21-Tech partners study and share the effective use of Personal Mobile Technologies (PMTs) by gallery facilitators in their work with visitors. The initial three years (2011-2013) of 21-Tech are funded in large part by a 21st Century Museum Professionals award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
